This week, F5 introduced a new listing on the AWS Marketplace -- a FIPS compliant F5 NGINX Plus running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Leveraging RHEL FIPS 140-3 validated cryptography, this offering reduces the need to build a FIPS compliant configuration manually reducing maintenance overhead.
Why FIPS compliance matters
FIPS 140-3 is a U.S. government standard used to accredit cryptographic modules, aimed to ensure that sensitive data is protected using trusted and validated encryption technologies. In order to achieve FIPS 140-3 certification, cryptographic modules are subject to rigorous testing by independent Cryptographic and Security Testing Laboratories, accredited by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). RHEL has decades of experience certifying to FIPS and other government and industry standards.
While FIPS 140-3 is a requirement for many federal agencies, it is also increasingly recognized around the world as a benchmark for strong security controls across many industries including:
- Government
- Healthcare
- Finance
- Critical infrastructure
What’s new in the F5 NGINX Plus AWS Marketplace listing
F5’s new AWS Marketplace listing offers full NGINX Plus capabilities built on a trusted foundation of RHEL, such as:
- FIPS 140-3 validated cryptography for enhanced data protection.
- Seamless integration with AWS services and infrastructure.
- Click-to-deploy convenience using a pre-configured AWS AMI for fast deployment that lowers TCO and operational overhead.
Whether you're operating in the public sector or other highly regulated industries, this new listing can help your deployment align with the latest compliance requirements without compromising on performance or agility.
