レッドハット株式会社（本社：東京都千代田区 平野正信社長） は、昨 年8月より開始されたRHAP （Red Hat Accredited Professional）資格取得者が、延べ100名を突破したことを発表した。
先日発表された、日本におけるRHCE（Red Hat認定エンジニア）資格取得者の1000名突破というニュースとともに(4月25日現在1167名)、いかにLinux技術者の需要が急速に高まっているかを証明する結果となっている。
RHCE（Red Hat認定エンジニア）は、Red Hat Linuxに関するネットワーク管理スキルを定量的に評価し、技術者のスキルを認定する、実技重視のワールドワイドな技術認定資格。6時間に およぶ認定試験は、主にトラブルシューティング試験やシステム構築試験から構成される。その実務を重視した試験内容と、それにともない必然的に上昇した難易度により証明されたRHCE取得者の技術的能力の高さは、経営者層からも高く評価されており、すでに全世界では5000人以上のRHCE認定資格者を輩出している。
最近では、数ある有名資格を抑えてIT資格の全米ナンバー1にランキングされるなど*、Linuxのみならず一般的なIT資格としても非常に高い評価を得ている。

そのRHCE認定資格取得に至るステップとして、レッドハット株式会社では、RH033、RH133 、RH253の各トレーニングコースに対して、RHAP(Red Hat Accredited Professional)認定制度を2001年8月末より開始した。
RHAPはワールドワイドな認定資格であり、上記各コースの最終日に行われる資格認定試験 により、RH033では「RHAP Bronze」、RH133では「RHAP Silver」、RH253では「RHAP Gold」という資格認定が与えられる。
