In the first half of 2025, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform released several new features, including a suite of enhancements aimed at accelerating adoption, expanding use cases, and unlocking the strategic value of IT automation. These updates focus on integrating IT automation into overarching AI strategies, aiming to help customers achieve efficiency, resilience, and trust in their operations.
1. Ansible Content Collections for AI
New collections, such as the redhat.ai Red Hat Ansible Certified Collection and the infra.ai Ansible validated content, provide support for Red Hat AI infrastructure provisioning and AI deployment on-premise and in the cloud. Additionally, Ansible Content Collections includes new updates in the cloud, network, virtualization, and infrastructure categories reflecting real-world scenarios and customer needs.
2. Ansible Content Collections for Networking
New support was added for advanced capabilities across various domains with updates to the comprehensive network automation content with new modules for virtual routing and forwarding, as well as improving routing protocols and access automation with:
- Cisco UCS validated content to better manage UCS landscape with Intersight.
- 300% expansion of the Cisco Intersight collection enables automation for creating and managing IP pools, setting VLAN policies and pools amongst other regularly used network and compute settings within the UCS ecosystem.
- Cisco Meraki validated content to automate Meraki cloud-controlled remote devices.
- Support for Nautobot (Network Source of Truth).
- Support for Nokia SR Linux devices automation.
- Support for Juniper Apstra integration with Red Hat OpenShift using Event-Driven Ansible capabilities.
- Validated content for F5 covering proactive security scenarios with Event-Driven Ansible.
3. Enhanced capabilities across cloud and infrastructure
We substantially enhanced cloud support with amazon.aws 10.0, migrating numerous EC2, VPC, and autoscaling modules and introducing support for Azure Arc devices and Azure Key Vault to secure automation. Furthermore, we upgraded Microsoft Windows Server management capabilities with OpenSSH support and expanded certified content for Windows by over 95%, including IIS lifecycle management. VMware vSphere integration also improved with direct node counting and expanded certified use cases in the vmware.vmware collection including VM creation.
4. Roadmap for further content evolution
Upcoming enhancements include joint maintenance and new Google Cloud content, new validated content to generate multivendor network inventory and health check reports, and consolidation of Juniper JunOS collections. Red Hat also plans to integrate new collections to support Terraform Enterprise and HashiCorp Vault. The content updates aim to provide ready-to-use, certified, and validated solutions for a wide range of automation needs.
