(Nasdaq: RHAT), leader mondiale nella fornitura di soluzioni software open source per l'enterprise, annuncia che Arpa Piemonte (Agenzia Regionale per la Protezione Ambientale), ha scelto Red Hat Enterprise Linux per supportare applicazioni che sviluppano modelli fisico-matematici previsionali. Red Hat Enterprise Linux e' inoltre utilizzato da Arpa Piemonte per la gestione dell'infrastruttura informatica nell'ambito delle attivita' di supporto e assistenza nivo-meteorologica della XX edizione dei Giochi Olimpici Invernali di Torino 2006.

L'infrastruttura di Arpa si basa su un HP ProLiant ML370 e due HP ProLiant DL380 con processori Intel Xeon DP. Quest'ultimo opera con HP Modular Smart Array 500 per fornire un semplice e affidabile sistema di storage. Red Hat Cluster Suite viene utilizzato per realizzare una configurazione ad alta disponibilita' clusterizzando le applicazioni Apache, Tomcat, FTP e Postgresql. La fase di test e di sviluppo in Arpa viene gestita tramite workstation Fedora Core 3, un progetto open source sponsorizzato da Red Hat.
