Il progetto, che verra' condotto in collaborazione con un prestigioso hardware partner di Red Hat, prevede che vengano implementati, a regime, oltre 4.000 blade server operanti con Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Si tratta di uno dei piu' grandi centri di calcolo al mondo, realizzato allo scopo di elaborare complessi calcoli ingegneristici.
La piattaforma Red Hat Enterprise Linux e' stata scelta per le elevate prestazioni che consente di raggiungere, per la sua grande flessibilita', per i costi ridotti rispetto ad altre piattaforme closed-source e per l'eccezionale scalabilita', che permettera' ai committenti del progetto di aggiungere nuovi server senza dover modificare la propria infrastruttura informatica. I vantaggi economici derivanti dalla scelta di Linux sono abbinati al supporto di alto livello che Red Hat offre, e che garantisce il massimo in termini di continuita' e sicurezza del servizio.
